Coffee Method FAQ

What beans will you be sending?

We follow the harvest cycles and methodically search all corners of the coffee growing world to seek find the most and interesting green beans from the best producers, roast them to our standards, and deliver them to you.

Is the coffee ground?

Currently we only offer our coffee as whole beans, to keep coffee’s freshness and flavor. Fresh coffee, freshly ground is impossible to beat!

A grinder is a great addition, we may even venture to claim essential tool, to your brewing setup. We find our beans taste best with burr grinding.  To help our customer’s out we recommend one burr grinder today.  Feel free to email us for additional grinder guidance or shopping suggestions.

Is your coffee USDA Organic?

For a coffee to be certified organic by the USDA, strict regulations and certifications are enforced at all levels of production. As the farms we partner with don’t always possess the financial resources to gain these certifications, we don’t require our coffees to be USDA Organic. However, most of the farms we work with practice organic and ecologically conscious growing methods.

Are your coffees Fair Trade Certified?

Our coffee buyers proudly place a great amount of emphasis on quality and sustainability, both from an environmental and economic standpoint.

We purchase a number of coffees from Fair Trade certified cooperatives; however, many producers decide it’s in their best financial interest to channel their resources toward continued advances in quality and sustainability instead of the expensive process of certification. We like to factor a producer’s efforts toward greater quality as well as environmental and economic responsibility into our purchasing decisions, regardless of their certification status.

Moving forward, it is our intention not only to maintain, but to methodically expand our efforts to search for the best sustainable coffees the world has to offer.

How is your coffee sourced?

The production of exceptional coffees is a collaborative, meticulous and multi-faceted effort. All coffees are sourced in freshly harvested lots through direct relationships with producers and cooperatives committed to quality and sustainable business practices. We travel to origin throughout the year, exploring new coffee sources, checking in with cherished producers, and offering premiums for quality. The long-standing partnerships we nurture are built upon trust—trust that our producers will convey to us what they need to thrive and trust that we will do everything we can to support them.
